This started with Bomber. A diagnosis, a hundred questions, and a kitchen full of scraps that didn't feel right. I pulled out everything I learned writing about paleo for myself — and turned it on the bowl in front of him. His sister Rhea is thriving because of it. Now I'm writing it all down.

Bomber is the reason this site exists. Last year a tumor on his rear left leg led to an amputation he handled like an absolute professional. He bounced back faster than any of us expected and is still on chemo to keep new tumors away. He runs the household with a quiet, dignified authority and a soft spot for sardines. Every recipe here passed through his bowl first.

Favorite things: being a cattle dog, barking at the Amazon guy, gathering sticks.

RHEA

YOUNG · ATHLETIC · THE ACCIDENTAL CONTROL GROUP

Rhea is Bomber's younger sister and the reason we know fresh feeding works on a healthy dog too. She got enrolled in this whole experiment by proximity. I could not make one diet for him and another for her, so she eats what he eats, scaled down. Her coat shifted in two months. Her energy is steady. Her stool is, as they say, on point.

Favorite things: playing with Bomber, eating, chasing balls.

The blog is the notebook I wish I had had on day one. The recipes are the bowls I make for these two. The rest is just me trying to keep up with them.
